Maria Cristina Cigarroa

I am an immigration attorney licensed in the State of Texas. I am based in Austin, TX and my legal practice focuses on a variety of immigration matters, including humanitarian and family-based cases, such as family petitions, consular processing, adjustment of status, DACA, U Visa and VAWA petitions, and asylum, and related matters. I also represent clients in naturalization and citizenship cases. Previously, I was a staff attorney at the non-profit American Gateways, where I primarily served immigrant survivors of crime and violence. I also have experience working in private immigration law firms representing clients before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), U.S. Consulates, and Immigration Court.

I recognize the positive experience that quality legal representation has in the lives of immigrants and their families. My goal is to help my clients feel informed and empowered as they navigate a complex immigration legal system. I am a firm believer that each case is unique. For this reason, I take the time to familiarize myself with each of my client’s cases and to provide direct representation that aligns with my clients’ goals

I earned my JD from the University of Texas School of Law, where I participated in the Immigration Clinic. I also earned a Masters in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas. I earned my undergraduate degree from Harvard University in Latin American Studies. I am a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. I am fluent in Spanish.
